James Lloyd Hall

Sherman-James Lloyd Hall, 91, passed away Wednesday December 24, 2014 in Denison, TX. Visitation will be held Monday 1-2PM at Woods Street Church of Christ in Sherman, TX. Funeral services will follow at 2PM. Welton Stoker and Jon Smith will officiate. Burial will take place at Akers Cemetery in Sherman.

James was born January 3, 1923 in New Boston, TX to Clarence and Essie (Johnson) Hall. James was raised on his family's farm and was the fourth of five siblings. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He married Mary Lynn Campbell in 1946. He graduated from East Texas State Teachers College (ETSU) in 1949. James and Mary Lynn lived in Midland rearing their family of five children. They also lived in Arlington and East Texas before James retired as a law book salesman for Commerce Clearing House. Inc. After retirement they moved to Sherman. After the death of his first wife, James remarried Delores Davidson in 1991. James served 18 years as president of the advisory board at the Sherman Senior Center. He was a member of the body of Christ and worshipped with the Woods Street congregation. He enjoyed fellowship with family, friends and church members. He enjoyed recreational sports, table games, and especially music. He spent many hours visiting local nursing homes playing piano for the residents. His biggest claim to fame, in retrospect, was playing baseball for the Shell Oil baseball team in Midland, where George Herbert Bush was a fellow team member. James had a great sense of humor and loved entertaining with his silly antics and costumes. He will be fondly remembered as a fun loving family man.

James is survived by his wife of 23 and a half years, Delores Hall of Sherman; daughter, Linda Pittman and husband Donald of Blossom, TX; son, Carroll Hall and wife Shirley, of Spring, TX; daughter, Cindy Medlin and husband Dennis of Denison; daughter, Nancy Cassady and husband Ron; daughter, Molly Shaw and husband Les of Mansfield, TX; step-son, Kelly Davidson and wife Kimberly of Van Alstyne, TX; step-daughter, Cindy Gill and husband David of Pottsboro, TX; brother, Murl Hall of Houston, TX; brother in-law, Jerry Spradling and wife Bonnie; sister in-law, Jerry Lambert; twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
