Ruth Boles Watson passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2007. Reverend Allen Snider of First Methodist Church, Winnsboro, Texas and former pastor of Key Memorial Methodist Church, Sherman, will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, March 5, at the Waldo Funeral Home.
Ruth was born July 20, 1926, in Honey Grove, Texas to James L. and Nannie Dyer Boles. She graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1944. In 1947, she graduated from Wilson N. Jones Nursing School and became a Registered Nurse. She worked as a surgical nurse at Wilson N. Jones Hospital for over 30 years. She married L. J. Watson on September 3, 1948, and they had one son, Randall Khent, and one daughter, Barbara Nan.
A member of Key Memorial Methodist Church, Ruth was always very active in church activities. She was also a member of the Golden Keys, NARFE, and DAV organizations. She loved to garden and cook for her family.
Ruth is survived by her husband L. J. (Jack); son Randy and wife Nancy of Ida; daughter Barbara and husband Robby McBride of Sherman; six grandsons: Manual Watson and wife LeAnn of Sherman; Leif, Levi, and Cody Watson of Ida; and Ryan and Lance McBride of Sherman. She is also survived by three brothers: James and wife Helen Boles of San Antonio; J.L., Jr. and wife Martha Boles of Greenville; Ray and wife Jo Boles of Duncanville; one sister, Lena Mae Patterson of Canyon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her closest friend, Wynona Gibbs, was with her to the end. She was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.
