Obituary

Services for Clayton Brooks, 92, of Sherman will be held Friday, April 27, 2007 at 10:00 am at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Brooks passed away April 24, 2007 at the Whitesboro Nursing Center. Dr. Tom Brandon, Pastor Emeritus of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.

Clayton was born January 3, 1915 in Basin Springs, north of Sadler, TX to Shelvy and Lucy Stone Brooks. He married Alba Lee Pike on December 24, 1936 in Durant, OK.

He was a union carpenter by trade for more than 36 years. He began his career working on the Denison Dam and Power Plant. He followed the commercial construction to Lubbock, TX and finished in the Metroplex area in the late 1970's. When he retired from construction, he went into full time ranching. He loved his Brangus cattle and spent his most happy days tending them.

He was a member of the Grayson County Farm Bureau and he served on the board of directors for many years, attending all meetings and conventions. He was also a member of the The Texoma Square Dance Club, which was his fondest entertainment.

He was a member of the Keystone Bible Class at the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years Alba Lee; sons Darrell Brooks and wife Karen of Sherman, TX and Royce Brooks and wife Sherrill of Denison, TX; and granddaughter Leigha Lynette Brooks of Houston, TX.

His parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson preceded him in death.

Pallbearers will be Mark Pike, Bill Brooks, Carroll Brown, Alton Cox, Sam Knight and David Gibson.

Family night will be Thursday, April 26th from 6:00-7:30 pm at Waldo Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels; Ministry of Encouragement at First Baptist Church or your favorite charity.
