Hattie Mae Moore
Mama went to be with her Savior Friday, the 11th of January 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family, knowing she was loved and will be greatly missed every day. Mama was born January 9, 1925 in rural Collin County to Melissa Lillian Bowers Moody and William Carroll Moody. She was the eldest of eight children. Hattie attended school in Savage and Leonard. After leaving home she moved to Dallas where she worked for her Aunt and Uncle in a café in South Dallas. She met William ?Lee? Moore and they were married June 6, 1944 in Corsicana, Texas. They farmed for many years then moved from the country into Corsicana, working there until 1952. They later moved to Sherman and worked at Burlington Mills. Mom worked very hard for 32 years. She retired and babysat while enjoying her family and many friends; she never met a stranger and always greeted you with a smile. She had a wonderful laugh and always helped her family. After a stroke on February 15, 2001, she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law until her death. She no longer had to worry about getting by on her social security and babysitting; she had her own room and bath. She enjoyed getting out and going for rides, going out to eat, and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She broke her hip December 26, 2006 and was bedfast but still remained a happy person. God took an angel to help Him. She was loved by all who knew her. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, James and George Moody and Jack Bowers. She survived by a daughter, Doris, and son-in-law, Aubrey Ritchie; grandchildren, Angela Lorance and husband Rob, Darren Ritchie and wife Debbie, Dustin Ritchie and wife Teresa all of Sherman; great grandchildren Melissa Ritchie, Rami Ritchie, Aubrey Ryan Ritchie, Mikayla Ritchie, Natalie Mae Ritchie; great great grand children Stevie Marie Brattain and one to arrive in June; they were the light of her blue eyes. Also surviving are sister, Vida Tadlock, Florene Woods; brothers, Joe Moody, Bill Moody and Johnny Moody; special niece, Sheila Brown as well as many nieces and nephews. There will be a private celebration of her life at Cedarlawn Memorial Park at a later date. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and Victory Home Hospice. We want to thank Linda, Barb and Barbara for their wonderful care and love for my mom. You may sign the on-line register book a www.waldofuneralhome.com.
