Sherman- Funeral services for Margie Marie Gulledge Larkin will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 26 in the Parkview Church of Christ. Welton Stoker of the church will officiate with burial following at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Scott Hall, Gary Hall, Brad Haas, Michael Speed, Charlie Whaley, and Jack Wakin. Mrs. Larkin passed away on Thursday, January 24 at her daughter Debbie's home in Sherman at the age of 85.
Margie was born on December 24, 1922 in Madison County, Arkansas to the late Grover and Tennie (Faubus) Gulledge. She attended school in St. Paul, Arkansas. When the war started, Margie went to California with her sister Drue and best friend Doris. There she met and married W.C. (Buddy) Larkin in San Diego on April 15, 1944. They moved to Sherman in 1947 where Buddy opened an automobile repair service. Margie stayed at home and raised their six children and the neighborhood children, which was her delight. After Buddy's death in 1972, Margie began her career as a waitress. She worked at Sambos, Western Sizzlin, and Golden Corral. She retired from Golden Corral in 2003 as her health began to fail, which was the biggest disappointment in her life.
Margie is survived by five daughters, Debbie Roberts of Sherman, Lisa Whaley and husband Chuck of Sherman, Stephanie Larkin and Ron Bishop of Elkins, Arkansas, Becky Jackson and husband Bill of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Rhonda Byler and Jerry Mitchell of Farmington, Arkansas; one son, Mark Larkin of Sherman; one brother, Bob Gulledge of Combs, Arkansas; one sister, Ernestine Shepherd of Winslow, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Margaret (Brownie) Crow of Garland; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and all of her friends in Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, Charles, G.C., and Frank Gulledge, and two sisters, Baby Ruth Gulledge and Drue Gulledge Davis.
