William Henry Milner's Obituary

William H. Milner of Sherman, 87 year-old retired owner of Milner Mattress Factory, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Homestead of Sherman.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 29, 2008 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Petrash, chaplain for Home Hospice of Grayson County, will officiate and the burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. An honorguard from Ft. Hood Burial Honors Detail will conduct military graveside honors.

Mr. Milner was born March 5, 1920 in Collierville, Tennessee, the son of Oscar Milner and Nettie Irene Jackson Milner. He enlisted in the U.S. Army September 26, 1940 and served five years, receiving his honorable discharge as a Sergeant E-5. He married Vivian Juanita Randolph August 5, 1945 in Rossville, Georgia. He was manager for American Mattress Factory in Sherman before he opened his own business, Milner Mattress Factory.

Mr. Milner loved the times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and among other cycles he was proud of his 1974 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was a former member of Kerr Chapel Missionary Church and later Victory Missionary Baptist Church, both in Sherman.

He is survived by son, Wesley Lynn Milner of Sherman; daughter and son-in-law, Jan Blakey and Mark Blakey of Sherman; sister, Mildred Clark of Cleveland, Tenn.; brothers, Acie D. Milner of Louisville, Kentucky, Roy Barber of Cleveland, Tenn., Reed Barber of Eads, Tenn., and Riley Barber of New Jersey. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Webb, Ricky Milner, Keith Milner and Robbie Milner; and a great grandson, Wesley Paul Milner. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Juanita Randolph Milner, his parents, his step-father, G. W. Barber, four brothers and a sister.

The family will receive guests at the visitation from 12 noon until service time Friday in the Waldo Funeral Chapel.
