Myrick Neal Triplett's Obituary

Dr. Myrick Neal Triplett died May 6th 2008. Dr. Triplett was in medical practice

in Sherman, TX from 1951 to 1998 when he retired. He was born in Dallas, TX in 1922

and moved to Lubbock, TX until 1935 when his family moved to George West, TX. He

graduated from George West High School in 1939 and graduated with a B.A. degree

from Texas Technological College in 1943. In 1947, Dr. Triplett graduated from

Southwestern Medical Foundation, Dallas with a M.D. degree. He interned at Baylor

University Hospital in 1947-1948. He completed a 3 year residency in internal medicine

and pulmonary diseases and was board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Triplett entered

the United States Army during WWII serving until the end of the war. In 1951 he was

recalled to the United States air force during the Korean War and was appointed Chief of

Medicine at an Air Force hospital until the end of the war. Dr. Triplett was a Fellow of

the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the American College of Chest

Physicians. In 1975 he was appointed Chief of Medicine with the Ministry of Defense

and Aviation in Saudis Arabia. Later he was appointed Director of Medical Affairs of

the military hospitals in Tabuk, Jiddah and Khamis Mushayt until returning to private

practice in Sherman in 1980. While in Saudi Arabia he served as Chairman of the First

Kingdom-wide Saudi Arabia medial association meeting and presented a paper on

injuries due to envenomation by the stone fish prevalent in the Red Sea He was on the

Board of the Saudi Medical Journal from 1979-1981. Dr. Triplett was the tuberculosis

control officer for North Central Texas and consultant to Bonham VA Hospital for many

years. He was a licensed single engine pilot, certified scuba diver and he enjoyed skiing,

f i shing, boating, reading his books and journals and enjoyed bay fishing in Rockport

Texas and trout fishing in Montana with his special friends Ed and Albertha Lee. He had a very special interest in photography as well. He was a loving father and husband survived by his wife of 21 years, Shirley G. Triplett, sister Charlyn Moore of Olympia, Washington, his children Marianne and her husband Tim Howells, Richard Triplett, and his wife Virginia, John E. Triplett and Staci Triplett Lovelace, his step daughter, Karla Chandler and her husband

James. His grandchildren are Adam Howells and wife Stephanie, Andrew Triplett,

Matthew Triplett, Peter Triplett, Thomas Triplett, Mark Lovelace, Kennon Chandler,

Kaleb Chandler, Kendall Chandler Morin and her husband, Robert. He was also blessed

with 3 great grandchildren, Peyton, Blake and Lainey Howells.

Services will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Sherman, TX at 2:00 pm Friday May 9, 2008 with Father Martin Yost of the church officiating. Burial will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery with grandsons Adam Howells, Matthew Triplett, Peter Triplett, Thomas Triplett, Mark Lovelace, and Kennon Chandler serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at the church. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
