Services for Harold Eugene Cave, age 92 of Ft. Worth and formerly of Sherman, will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2008 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Cave died Saturday morning, July 5, 2008 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth.

Mr. Cave's son, Eddie Cave, and Phillip Elston, nephew will officiate and the burial will follow at Mugg Cemetery in Weston, Collin County, Texas. An honor guard from the US Naval Air Station in Ft. Worth will conduct military graveside honors.

Harold was born October 4, 1915 in Weston, the son of Aderah Edwin Cave and Hettie Mugg Cave. He graduated from Weston High School and attended North Texas Teachers College (now known as North Texas State University) and Abilene Christian College. He married Mary Wilson on June 28, 1942 in Van Alstyne, Texas.

Harold enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and received his basic training at Corpus Christi, Texas. He then was a flight and aviator instructor for the Navy in Norman, Oklahoma until his honorable discharge in 1947. He was employed by Moore Business Forms in Ft. Worth for twenty years and then worked as a government mediator and consultant for Dept. of Housing and Urban Development for seventeen years in Corpus Christi and Lubbock, overseeing many natural disasters that is now covered under FEMA.

Harold had a love for flying and earned his commercial pilot's license even before he entered the Navy in 1942. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially flying, which he did as recently as 90 years old. He had recently moved to Ft. Worth so that his family could care for him as his health began to fail. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Cave of Ft. Worth; two sons, Eddie Cave and his wife Moody Lynn Cave and Chuck Cave and his wife Cindy Cave, all of Ft. Worth; daughter, Shirley Lahmer of Ft. Worth; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and their spouses.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Wednesday in the Waldo Funeral Chapel.
