Funeral services for Leroy Hickson will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church 1615 S. Travis Sherman, TX. Elder Johnny Wilson, Sr. will officiate and burial will follow at the Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Thompson, Jr., Dwayne Thompson, Corey Rockins, James Bowen, Cedric Bunn and John McNeely. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.

He passed away on January 1, 2009 at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

Leroy was born on December 27, 1919 in Sherman, TX the son of Charlie and Lula Mae Hawkins Hickson. He married Vernee Boddie on June 5, 1950. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2006. Leroy was a Mason, a member of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and he was a former Coach of Mickey Mantle Little League. Leroy loved Big Band, Jazz and various types of music.

Mr. Hickson is survived by his daughter,Verna Lee (Rockins) Durden and husband Charles of Sunnyvale, TX, son, Lawrence Rockins of Sherman, TX, four grandchildren, Debbie Durden of Rowlett, TX, Corey Rockins of Sherman, TX, Stephanie (Durden) Fitch and husband Jarrod of The Colony, TX and Markayla Rockins of Sherman, TX. He is also survived by his family caregiver, Lanora Lane of Sherman, TX and a host of other family and friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his wife Vernee Hickson, brothers, Fred Hickson and Wesley E. Brown, sister, Lucinda Savage and granddaughter Debra Gail Durden.

Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon at Waldo Funeral Home for those who wish to pay respects.
