Lee Daniel Riddle, 87 - year-old Sherman resident, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Hilltop Haven Christian Care Center in Gunter Texas. Services will be at 2 pm, Thursday July 2 at in the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Glass of the Faith Church with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Sonny Riddle, Jon Sanders, Vick Gotcher, Hugh (Bud) Martin, Benny Riddle and Todd Prather. Burial with military honors will conclude the service.

Mr. Riddle was born April 22, 1922 in Dexter, Texas, son of Louis Richard and Susie Sikes Riddle. He married Billie Merle Rains March 9, 1963 in Sherman, Texas. Lee worked in the Oil Fields of Texas and then became a barber in Sherman. He was a member of the East Sherman Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #263 in Whitesboro, Texas and the Scottish Rite in Dallas, Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.

Lee enjoyed country music and loved to play his guitar and fiddle. He loved going to the Peanut Festival in Whitesboro and seeing all of his old friends. He also entertained his customers at the barbershop with his country music.

Mr. Riddle is survived by his step-son Tom Rains and wife Becky Rains of Sherman, Texas; one granddaughter Stephanie Leigh Prather and husband Todd Prather of McKinney, Texas; one brother, Ben Riddle of Whitesboro, Texas; five sisters, Evelyn Martin of Arkansas, Gladys Brooks of Sherman, Texas, Lois Gotcher and husband John W. of Sherman, Texas, Edna Di Donna of California and Julia Knox and husband Alvin of Grand Prairie, Texas; eight nephews and thirteen nieces. Preceding him in death were his wife Billie M. Riddle and his brother Tommie W. Riddle.



The family requests memorials are given to the Faith Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1061, Sherman, Texas, 75091.



The family will receive friends in the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park from 1:00 pm until service time.
