Services for William (Billy) D. Bedgood, 80, of Tuscaloosa, AL will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Harvey Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Vernon, TX. His son-in-law Ron McCool and cousin Willie Alcorn will officiate. Billy went to his heavenly home on Sunday, November 28, 2010 after living a full and active life. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Mark Byrd, Robert K. Bedgood, Daniel McCool, Jesse Story, Will Story and Caleb Bedgood. Honorary Pallbearers are Willie Alcorn, Joshua McCool, Dale Bedgood, David Dwayne Bedgood, Gerald Lyautey, Kenneth Bedgood, Kyle Bedgood, Matt Ballay and Joel Bedgood. Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Billy was born December 10, 1929 in Saltillo, TX to William Madison and Martha (Alcorn) Bedgood. He graduated from Saltillo High School in 1948 and East Texas State University in 1952. He married Marjorie Jean Hayes March 6, 1954 in Columbus, OH. He was a commissioned Second Lieutenant in the USAF and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1973. He served in Indo China and Vietnam in the Strategic Air Command. He was stationed at several Air Force Bases in the US and around the world. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for twenty years as a Civil Servant. He also served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, a search and rescue pilot for Civil Air Patrol and was a certified flight instructor. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Keith Bedgood and sister Martha Yvonne Byrd he is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughters Laura K. McCool and husband Ron of Collinsville, OK, Rebekah A. Story and husband Tom of Edmund, OK, sons Jeffery D. Bedgood and wife Phyllis of The Colony, TX and David A. Bedgood and wife Twila of Hoover, AL, brother Dale Bedgood and wife Betty of Commerce, TX, sister Carolyn Beckett of Paris, TX and brother David D. Bedgood and wife Donna of Sherman, TX, grandchildren Anna Ballay, Ivy Bedgood, Lisa Story, Robert Keith Bedgood, Daniel McCool, Kenneth Bedgood, Kyle Bedgood, Joshua McCool, Jesse Story, Will Story and Caleb Bedgood, and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at Sam Harvey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, TX from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.
