Floyd was a Chemical Engineer whose career spanned over forty years in the Foundry Industry. He was still working, at the time of his death, for Denison Industries, in Denison, TX. His career began in a foundry lab, in St Louis, MO. He also worked in Illinois and Virginia before moving to Exeter, California in January 1989. He spent the next 15 years there, as the manager of Waterman Foundry.
Floyd was very active in organizations that supported the foundry industry in California as well as the United States. He pioneered many procedures and methods for reducing smokestack emissions and reducing waste products in manufacturing facilities. He was the recipient of many awards and publications for his accomplishments.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved travel, camping, fishing, history and collecting antiques. He also loved animals. He shared a very special connection with Lexi, his Australian Shepherd, who was always by his side.
Floyd loved his family and his devotion and support knew no end. The move to Sherman, Texas meant separation from kids and grandkids and all family. That distance never changed his love for them. Sherman Bible Church became an integral part of Floyd's life. Special relationships developed with friends, and more importantly, with His Savior. He served as an usher and his most recent accomplishment was being baptized, which he was very proud of.
Floyd will be remembered as a kind and generous, hard-working man, with a dry sense of humor. His personality was unique. If you were his friend, or someone he loved, there was no limit to his generosity. He had your back and you had his heart.
Memorial services will be held 11:00am Monday, November 7, 2011 at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Tim Harkin officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family at waldofuneralhome.com.
