Robert Lynn Roe
Forney- Graveside funeral services for Robert Lynn Roe will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday June 9 at West Hill Cemetery. Rev. Shane Allen of the First Assembly of God in Taylor, Texas will officiate with military honors conducted by the Ft. Hood Funeral Honor Guard. After an 18 month battle with cancer, Mr. Roe passed away Tuesday June 5 at the Dallas Veterans Hospital at the age of 63.
Robert was born December 21, 1948 in Sherman to the late John Perry Roe and Nannie (Battles) Roe. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1967 and attended Texas A&M for three years. Robert served his country in the US Army from 1970 to 1976 and was stationed in Germany much of the time. Following his military service, Robert spent a brief time in Oregon where he studied to become a forest ranger. Returning to Texas, Mr. Roe went to work for Texas Metal Industries where he spent 27 years working as a salesman in both Crandall and Mesquite. Robert was an avid golfer and will be remembered for his strong work ethic and love of family, especially his two grandchildren.
Mr. Roe is survived by his daughter Crystal Reid of Forney; two grandchildren, Caleb and Chloe Reid of Forney; seven brothers, Herbert Roe and wife Linda of Euless, Johnny Roe and wife Linda of Sherman, Ross Roe of Sherman, Richard Roe of Florida, Joe Roe and wife Barbara of McDonough, Georgia, Jerry Roe of Tom Bean, and Mike Roe and wife Pat of Sherman; one sister, Sherry Arthur of Tom Bean; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Donald, Buddy, Gene, and Glenn Roe.
