Sherman- Graveside services for Margaret Gibson, 85, will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 25, at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Lander Bethel officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Gibson, Rick Wheeler, Josh Gibson, Justin Gibson, Darby Rich, Jimmy Fincher, Kelley Hearn, Brent Beal, and Ben McIver.
Margaret Elaine was born April 17, 1927 in Marshall, Oklahoma to Emil Hearn and Margaret Laura (Murphy) Hearn and went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, August 23, 2012. Margaret is a graduate of Perryton High School in Perryton, Texas. She continued her undergraduate studies at North Texas State University and received her Master's degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Margaret married Bob Gibson on May 21, 1949 in Perryton and were blessed over 63 years of marriage. Margaret was an English and Speech teacher. She taught 17 years at Dillingham Intermediate School in Sherman and impacted many lives. Margaret will be remembered for "Casey at the Bat". She retired from teaching in 1983. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Margaret was well known at the library, she had many friends there as she checked out books to read. She also enjoyed sewing and was a master quilter. She and Bob loved to go out to eat at El Chico and The Barn, and were very close to the waitresses that served them. She will be greatly missed.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her loving family, husband, Bob of Sherman, sons, Mark Gibson and wife, Diane of Sherman, and Vance Gibson and wife, Darla of Frisco, one sister, Shirley Bess Kyle and husband, John of Amarillo, Texas, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing hours will be Friday from noon to 7:00pm, and Saturday from 8:00 to 11:00am.
