Eddye J Hall's Obituary

Eddye Ball Hall went home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2014 in Henderson, Texas, at the age of 97. She fought a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Eddye was born July 31, 1916, in Tom Bean, Texas, the first of four children born to Grantlin and Essie Davis Ball. She graduated from Tom Bean High School as salutatorian of her class. She married the love of her life, Raymond Hall, December 25, 1936. They were married for 65 years. She was a fulltime mother and homemaker.

Her church was very important to her. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ (Walnut Street, Travis Street, and Western Heights) in Sherman, Texas for 70 years. She loved reading the Bible and taught Sunday school classes for several years.

She loved to do needlepoint and crochet, and her special gift was hospitality. She was a wonderful, talented cook, and graciously opened her home to friends. The highlight of each year was hosting family gatherings in her home at holidays.

Descended from two pioneer Tom Bean families; she was the great granddaughter of Carlisle Bablin and Margaret McVicar Shreve Ball who came to Grayson County in the 1850's and James Fountain and Minerna Martin Davis who arrived in 1883.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Gilbert Ray and Sandra Renick Hall of Henderson, Texas, grandson and family, Stanley Ray Hall, wife Catherine Russel Hall, great grandson, Alexander Ray Hall all of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; granddaughter, Stephanie Hall Welch, husband Raymond R. Welch, great granddaughter, Victoria Elizabeth Streno, all of Red Oak, Texas; brother and sister in law, John and Joan Ball, of Sherman, Texas; sister, Norma Gene Odom of Denison, Texas; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Hall; a brother, James Russell Ball, a sister in law, Mary Lou; and a brother in law, Clayton Odom.

The family would like to express thanks to John and Joan Ball for being special caregivers; for the staff at Emeritus and also Autumn Leaves of Henderson; Hospice of East Texas, and the ladies of South Main Church of Christ of Henderson who faithfully visited her and brought goodies and meals.

Funeral services will be officiated by Joe Ed Furr and Jamie Knapp at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel, Sherman, Texas, on Monday, February 10th at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00AM prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Frank Brown, Wayne Keene, Richard Oglesby, Dwain Chaffin, Ken Mullins, Les Sullins and Howard Smith.
