Dovie McGuire Fontaine
July 18, 1925-June 12, 2014
Dovie Fontaine died June 12, 2014, just shy of her 90th birthday. She died as she lived: feeling blessed and being thankful. She never missed an opportunity to tell you that she was blessed, nor did she forget that companion of being blessed, thankfulness. She would tell you that she told God several times a day how thankful she was for her blessings.
Dovie was born July 18, 1925 near Locust, Texas, the child of Charles and Annie McGuire. While a young girl, and after the death of her father, the family moved to Pottsboro. There she met and married Ray, her husband of 68 years. Together they had six children. Ray died August 18, 2012.
Dovie is survived by her six children and their families: JoAnn Irvin and Janet Fontaine, both of Sherman; Steve Fontaine and wife Sharon of Waco; Bruce Fontaine of Alexandria, Louisiana; Barry Fontaine and wife Laura of Sherman; and Jerry Fontaine and partner Robert Pierce of Grand Prairie. There are also eight grandchildren: David Irvin and wife Jennifer; Derek Irvin and wife Misty; Shanna Garcia and husband Joe; Casie Rivas and husband Carlos; Leslie Rosencrans and husband Matt; Lauren Ferguson and husband Matt; Jeremy Fontaine; and Tyler Fontaine and wife Kristen. The next generation includes eight great grandchildren: Jacob, Dax, Zoie, CoCo, Kal, Sayla, Felix and Samuel. She is also survived by one sister, Rena Fay Day of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, and son-in-law Doug Irvin.
The funeral will be at 2:00 PM Monday June 16 at Waldo Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Irvin, Derek Irvin, Tyler Fontaine, Dax Irvin, Carlos Rivas and Jacob Irvin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Park Baptist Church- Nicaragua Missions (Fontaine) at 2605 Rex Cruise, Sherman, TX 75092.
