O. C. "Bo" Merriman, was born December 15, 1914, in Garland, Texas, to K. O. and Carrie Merriman, early pioneers, had six other children. All preceding him in death, except, Jane Gipson of Winnsboro, and Lonora Hayes of Hideaway Bay.
Bo married his school sweetheart, Oneta Mae Corley, and they lived in Garland, where Bo farmed and had two children, Beverly and Billy.
With his family they moved to Murphy around 1945, where he farmed for several years, then back to Garland in 1952.
In later years, after Oneta's passing, he moved to Sherman, where he married Elnora Williams Wright, and lived for the remainder of his life.
Bo was an avid deer hunter and spent every hunting season in South Texas or Utah, with fellow hunters sharing the campfire, friendships and good tales.
His love of travel was evident as he and Elnora were members of the Silver Streak Trailer Club, and traveled all across the country on many occasions with friends and relatives.
Bo had a fun sense of humor and loved to be with family and friends sharing laughs, and good times. This trait was very evident in his last days at Baylor Medical Center, where he joked with doctors and nurses during his last days, staying sharp and aware.
For the past six years, he has resided at the Renaissance Retirement Community in Sherman, where he enjoyed many friendships.
Bo is survived by his daughter, Beverly Copeland of Rowlett; son, Billy Merriman and wife, Brenda of Garland; step-daughter, Patsy Howell and husband, Cecil of Forney; eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
