VELMA HARRIS WEBB
Velma Harris Webb passed from her earthly life to her eternal home in Heaven on March 12, 2015 at the age of ninety-eight years. She was born December 27, 1916 in Grayson County, TX to John D. Harris Sr. & Verda Etta Meeks Harris. She married Willie Odell Webb on July 15, 1933 in her parent's home. A few years after his death in 1996, she moved to Taylor, TX to be closer to her daughter, Donna.
A member of East Sherman Baptist Church for more than fifty years, she served as secretary/treasurer of her Sunday School class. She was very active in her daughters' activities at Crockett, Crutchfield, Piner and Sherman High School & also served as a Blue Bird & Campfire leader.
Velma was employed by Vaughan Dept. Store & later Sylvia's Ladies Shop until her retirement in 1981. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking & quilting. Her grandchildren & great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, parents, three brothers --Ted Harris, Jesse (Bud) Harris, John D. Harris Jr.; four sisters -- Cecile Helen Morgan, Lyda (Polly) Mitchell, Lee Buzick & Billye Brent.
Survivors are daughters Norma Shaw (Ted); Donna Shaw (Mike); grandchildren Todd Shaw (Arisela); Toni Perrier (Bradley); Teddy Joe Gailey; Jim Bob Gailey (Tammy); step-grandchildren Jason Shaw (_Raven) & Michael Shaw (Stacy); great-grandchildren Collin & Caroline Perrier, Austin & Aaron Shaw, Alyssa Moreno, Justin & Preston Gailey, Jaxon, Tyler & Ethan Shaw; Jeremy and Gavin Cain and Nathan & Matthew Lutz and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Waldo Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 18th, from 1:30p to 2:30p, with a graveside service and internment immediately following at 3:00p at Cedarlawn Memorial Cemetery.
