Jerry Ross Green's Obituary

Jerry was born in Sherman, the son of C.L. and Bernice (Harshbarger) Green. He grew up in Richardson, TX, and graduated from Richardson High School in 1959. Jerry attended Cooke County JC in Gainesville and East TX State University in Commerce before graduating from the Dallas Police Academy in 1963. Jerry married Melba Hales on March 28, 1975 in Gainesville, Texas.

Jerry spent 30+ years as a law enforcement officer for the City of Richardson, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant. After retirement, he became a cattle rancher and enjoyed his ranch near Hagerman. He loved animals and always had dogs and cats by his side. Jerry was always the life of the party and enjoyed making everyone laugh. He had a nickname for everyone, and was known to be a prankster.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Melba Green; daughter, Pam Wilson and husband, Ronnie of Terrell, TX; stepchildren, Pam Parsons of Ft. Worth, TX, Kathy Reneau of Honey Grove, TX, and Ricky Williams of Austin, TX; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Tim Green and wife, Terri of Sherman, John Green and wife, Margie of Sunnyvale, TX; sister, Pat Green of Frisco, TX; and a host of other family and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and stepdaughter, Debbie Hawley.

Services to celebrate Jerry's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 4th, at Western Heights Church of Christ 800 Baker Park Dr. Sherman, TX, with Minister Mitch Wiggains officiating. Pallbearers will be Steven Parsons, Kevin Parsons, Ronny Hawley, Chad Harris, Timothy Sarr and Joshua Talmadge. The Richardson Police Department Honor Guard will be posted at the church.

The family will begin receiving friends one hour prior to services at the church.

Graveside services will take place at 3:00 PM at Restland Cemetery in Richardson, TX, with Larry Lowe, Chaplain for the Richardson Police Department officiating.

Donations may be made in Jerry's honor to the American Cancer Society or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
