Obituary

Linda Joanna Dean, 70 years old, passed away from Leukemia on December 7, 2015 at TMC in Denison, Texas.

Linda was born on October 7, 1945 in Quincy, Ks. Her parents were Charles Laban and Fern Marie (Booth) Matlock. When Linda was 4 years old the family moved to Donna, Tx In the Rio Grande Valley. She was employed by HEB grocery chain for 27 years, working as a bookkeeper for the Donna store before transferring to the Weslaco HEB 7 years later.

After her two daughters were grown Linda began traveling for HEB and worked for Retail Automation out of the headquarters in San Antonio. Being fluent in Spanish, she was assigned to Eagle Pass, Laredo, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley from Rio Grande City to Brownsville and in between.

She made lifelong friends along the way and loved her assignments. In 2002 Linda and her husband, Judge, moved to North Texas. She was employed as a Teller for what she described as "the most wonderful bank ever", American Bank of Texas in Sherman. She worked there for 12 years until she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in January, 2015 and her health no longer allowed her to work. She loved her working companions there and missed them terribly.

Linda would often say how her friends had been so loving and kind to her during her illness and numerous times in and out of the hospital.

Linda had a big heart and never met a stranger. She was an excellent cook and an accomplished seamstress and her outlook on life was positive right up to the end. Linda depended on her faith in God to get her through it all, and she never hesitated to say she didn't know what she would have done without her caring husband, Judge. She was devoted to her canine companions, Shadow and Beaudreaux, and referred to them as her "babies".

She is survived by her husband, Judge; two daughters, Bonnie Marie Grein of Edinburg, Tx, and Robyn LeAnn (Jamie) Williams of Piedmont, S.C.; brother, Gary DeWayne (Lou Ann) Matlock of Nowata, Ok.; granddaughters, Jordan Jo Ann Grein of Edinburg, Tx., Olivia Grace Parsons and grandson, Aaron Douglas Parsons of Piedmont, S. C.; two great-grandchildren, nephew, Joe Wayne (Karen) Matlock of Austin, Texas; and niece, Deborah (Jerry) Hanna of Nowata, Ok.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. and Fern Matlock and a niece, Shirlene Matlock Herrera of McAllen, Tx.

A memorial service will be held at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman on Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m.
