Graveside services for Curtis Elena Hill, 94, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 25th, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Chris Moses officiating.
Family night will be Tuesday, May 24th, from 6-8 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
Curtis Elena was born Monday, November 21, 1921 in Quail Collingsworth County, Texas, the daughter of William Sanford and Curtis Molly (Cagle) Simmons and passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016, in Denison, Texas.
Curtis graduated from Waylon Baptist College in 1942 and taught school before joining the United States Women's Air Corps, serving from 1943-1948. During this time she served much of her time in Germany, France and Switzerland. She married Robert Richard Hill on June 5, 1948 in Washington D.C. Following his retirement in 1963 from the Air Force, she worked for Pool Mfg Co. until she retired in 1986. Curtis was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in the Women's Missionary Union.
Curtis is survived by her daughter Bonnie Elmore of Sherman, son Richard Hill and wife Cheryl of Panama City Beach, FL; grandchildren Michael Elmore and wife Vanessa, Carrie Grissom and fiancé Brandon Jarvis, Howard Hill, Kim Waits and husband Bill, Rachel Izor and husband Brad, and Brandon Hill; brothers James Simmons and wife Juanita, and Walter Simmons and wife Barbara; sisters Loma Hendricks, Merle Holmes, Lindel Bittick, and Ivy Moore; 10 great grandchildren.
