Rita R. Stone's Obituary

Found Eternal Peace at the age of 89 years.

Beloved wife of Edward, (Stoney) for over 63 years. Most loving mother of Jeffrey, Cary, and Jill (Mark). Sister to Alice and Esther of Milwaukee, WI, and Robert of Phoenix, AZ.

Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; David Stone of Mundelein, IL (Jeff), Kelly Stone of Milwaukee, WI (Cary), Brian Stone of Phoenix, AZ. (Cary) Jason & Rachel (wife) Kallas of Luella, TX, Lauren Keim of Austin, TX (Andrew) and Morgan Kallas of Van Alstyne, TX (Jill), Kyle Stone of Milwaukee, WI (Kelly), Zoey Kallas of Luella, TX, (Jason).

She was preceded in death by father, mother, and brothers.

Rita was born in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Pulaski High School. After marrying Stoney, Rita was a stay at home mother and wife for many years. She entered the work force when the children were older and worked as a Secretary for a major pharmaceutical company. Rita also went to school for her Cosmetology license and ran a prominent hair salon for a number of years. When the family moved to Florida in 1972, Rita went to work as a Human Resource Manager for a highly successful aerospace company. Upon retirement, Rita turned her focus to her loving husband, children and grandchildren. By this time, many of us lived in other parts of the country, but we would all return home many times a year to enjoy mom's hospitality and great cooking. We all loved her potato dumplings!

Rita and Stoney eventually moved to Texas upon both of their retirements and lived next door to our sister on her ranch. Rita loved working with and watching the farm animals that included llamas, guinea hens, many chickens and a rooster! Rita would feed the animals and collect the chicken eggs.

After her husband's death, Rita continued to care for herself and her home. She loved to have company, especially from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved card games and was an avid reader.

For the past months of her life, she was cared for with skill and compassion by Dr. Alex Ehsan, who aided her in maintaining her health. In the last weeks of her life, Rita's journey was made easier by the tender comfort rendered by the staff of Hospice Plus. The family wishes to thank all those who loved and cared for Mom. She lived the end of her life with great dignity and good grace. She will most assuredly be missed by all who knew her. Our family will miss her most of all.

A private family service will be held on Tuesday, June 6th, 2017.
