Obituary

Connie Stanley - Sherman, Texas

God relieved our sister, Connie Stanley, of her physical disabilities and granted her angel wings on May 5, 2021.  She was born the eldest of eight children on November 5,1955 to Bob Stanley and Shirley Richardson.

Connie grew up in Sherman.  She attended St. Mary's and then entered the Sherman Public School System, graduating from SHS.  She fell in love and married Robert Allen in 1973.  Together, they share a son, Billy Wheaton.

After 30 years as a Nurse's Aide, Connie retired.  During those years, she shared her humor, skill, and compassion with many.  Her main goal was to make her patients happy.  She began her church family by spending 55 years as a member of St. Mary's however, she found her forever church home at Friendship Methodist Church.  During this time, she took her role as the oldest seriously, feeling that it was her duty to see us through life's challenges.

Connie will be remembered most for her unique sense of humor and her unconditional love of family.  However, she will be most respected for her determination and perseverance of overcoming physical disabilities.  Connie was an example set for all physically disabled individuals.

Connie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sam and Edna Sanchez, A.L. Stanley, Coy Lea Farris, Bill and Anna Moellers; father, Bob Stanley; stepmother, Dolores Stanley; and brother, Johnny Stanley.

She is survived by her son, Billy Wheaton of Atlanta, TX; grandson, Jacob Townsend and wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, TX; granddaughter, Breanna Ott and husband Jacob of Atlanta, TX; granddaughter, Nova Townsend of Atlanta, TX; great grandson, Devin Townsend of Atlanta, TX; brother, Ronny Stanley and wife Marilyn of Denison, TX; brother, Terry Stanley of Denison, TX; brother, Rodney Stanly of Sherman, TX; sister, Deborah Stanley and Mike Westmoreland of Sherman, TX; brother, Mike Gann and wife Jody of Sachse, TX; brother, Mark Gann and wife Kim of Princeton, TX; and one cat named Sam.  She was "Aunt Connie" to 17 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews.

Connie is also survived by her Church family at Friendship Methodist, especially Roland and Marilyn Desjardins, who were devoted to her care in her family's absence.

Connie will be celebrated at Waldo Funeral Home on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM.  She will be laid to rest at Washburn Cemetery in Bells immediately following.  Pastor Roy Spore of Friendship Methodist Church will be officiating.
