Wylie- Funeral services for Franklin Douglas "Andy" Anderson will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 7 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Deniece Mason will officiate and members of the VFW Post 2772 will be honorary pallbearers.  Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at DFW National Cemetery.  Mr. Anderson, 74, passed away Wednesday, January 31 at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Plano.

Andy was born March 9, 1943 in Abingdon, Virginia to the late Earl and Margaret (Haga) Anderson. On May 30, 1964, he and Sue Farmer were married in Maryland.  Mr. Anderson was highly decorated for his service in the US Army.  He served 20 years including multiple tours in Vietnam.  After retiring from the Army, he went to work at Texas Instruments and worked another 20 years before retiring again.

Andy was a proud veteran and was active in the American Legion, Disabled American Vets, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as the VFW District 1 and Post 2772 Chaplain for many years and was very instrumental in the organization of funerals for fellow veterans.  He was a member of the Mantua Masonic Lodge, the Pleasant Valley UMC and was a former member of Key Memorial UMC in Sherman.  He also enjoyed singing karaoke to his family and friends.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Sue of Wylie; two daughters, Melissa Simmons and husband Michael of McKinney and Melinda Browning and husband Robert of Wylie; three grandchildren, Seth Simmons of McKinney and Jesse and Shaun Browning, both of Wylie; sister, Rhoda Bergeron of Boscawen, NH; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Cash and Shirley Anderson, both of Amelia, VA and Jeanette Barr of Virginia Beach, VA ; two brothers-in-law, Ted Czmyr of Florida and Mack Farmer and wife Janna of Elk Creek, VA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Waldo Funeral Home. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Post 2772 at PO Box 505 Sherman, 75091.
