Obituary

John L. Goins was born August 19, 1928 in Hattiesburg, MS the son of John and Lucille Henderson Goins.

He attended Bay Springs School and received his formal education. As a young adult he worked at several hotels and later joined the Universal Life Insurance Company.  After moving to Sherman, he became the district manager of Universal Life until his retirement.

John attended the Fellowship Baptist Church and was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge.

After an extended illness he passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at his home.

He leaves with fond memories his wife Barbara S. Goins of the home; sons, Ernie Goins, Frederick (Jean) Goins, Charles (Brenda) Goins and Aaron King, Jr.; daughter, Constance Lee Briscoe; grandchildren, Breona and Iya Briscoe, Chris and Adrian Goins, Ashley Walker, Shannon Goins, Yolanda Carter, Rachael Carter, David Carter, Derrick Goins, Frederick Goins, Matthew Goins, Debra Goins, Donovan Goins and Lillie Goins; also great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; his devoted and caring nurses Tammie Owens and Jessica Ham with other relatives and friends.

Public visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2018 from 11 A.M. to 8 P.M. in Waldo Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Saturday, 2:30P.M. January 13, 2018 in Waldo Funeral Chapel, with his son Rev. Frederick Goins officiating.  Burial will be Monday, January 15, 2018 11 A.M. at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
