Karlee Belle Sly - Sherman, Texas
Karlee Belle Sly, age 21, of Sherman, Texas passed away on July 25, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she was actively serving our country in the United States Army.
She was born on February 5, 2000 in Mesquite, Texas.
Karlee grew up with her dad and mom, and sisters Madison and Landry in Sherman, Texas. She was very protective of her younger sisters and missed watching Madison and Landry grow up after she left for the Army. Karlee had a special bond with her Aunt Alexandria(Ally), whom she attended school and graduated alongside. She always had a love for planes and working with her daddy in the hangar. Karlee loved spending time with her family and friends on vacations at the lake, holidays with family and just anytime we were together.
She graduated from Sherman High School in 2018. Karlee then joined the United States Army where she attended basic training in South Carolina. After basic training, Karlee attended AIT school in Virginia where she was specially trained to maintain Apache helicopters. Karlee was then stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado where she met numerous friends including her best friend Marcus Reed, who was there until the very end.
She is survived by her mom, Lori Baughman Sly; sisters Madison Sly, Landry Sly and Kendall Woodrow; brother Joshua Garrett; and wife Brenda Sopko Sly; her grandparents Leland and Kathleen Sly, Sharon Baughman and Donna Mantooth. Karlee is also survived by several aunts and uncles: Lisa Nelson, Sharla Berry(Stratton), Michelle Childers(Richard), Billy Mantooth(Cheri), Rebecca Sly, Joshua Sly, Katherine Sly(Nathan), and Alexandria Sly; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Karlee was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Sly; and grandfathers, Earl Baughman and Bill Mantooth.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Brett Ringger officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman.
