Vincent Castellanos

Sherman- Funeral services for Vincent George Castellanos will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 30 at the First Baptist Church of Sherman. Rev. Rickey Hargrave and Rev. Mike Middlebrooks will officiate. Burial will follow at the Desert Cemetery near Blue Ridge. Mr. Castellanos, 36, passed away Monday, December 25 in Sherman after a two-year battle with cancer.

Vincent was born June 22, 1981 in Ventura, California to Steve and Julie (Nabor) Castellanos. Vincent enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman on August 17, 1999. He served in the United States Army from August 17th, 1999 until October 31st, 2015. During his service to our country, Vince became an Army Ranger and completed Air Assault and Pathfinder Schools.

He deployed overseas five times, once to Kosovo, three to Iraq, and once to South Korea. He is a highly decorated combat veteran whose commendations include, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device, six additional Army Commendation Medals, eight Army Achievement Medals, and numerous campaign and qualification medals.

After leaving the Military, Vince continued to have a passion to serve. He chose to serve his community as a Police Officer. In December 2015, Vince graduated from the Texoma Regional Police Academy in Denison Texas. While in the Police Academy, he was elected and served as the class President. He graduated as class Valedictorian, with a 98.5% GPA. He also received the Physical Fitness Award.

Vince was a Patrol Officer with the Sherman Texas Police Department where he is also a member of the Special Response Team (commonly known as SWAT).

Vince is survived by his wife Angelia; four amazing children, Julie (13), Vincent Jr (9), Sophie (8), and Lilly (2); parents, Steve and Julie Castellanos of Merced, CA; eights siblings, Stephen Castellanos of Utah, Stephanie Padilla of CA, Jennifer Jiminez of CA, Priscilla Bautista of CA, Joey Castellanos of UT, Erica Nava of CA, Freddy Castellanos of CA, and Ernie Castellanos of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Friday at Waldo Funeral Home. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
